USODA Layline Nationals Welcome Program

The Welcome Program has just been published and a hard copy will be included in the registration packet for each sailor. The Program contains vital information regarding the logistics of the site. Please peruse it carefully before you leave home or en route as it will substantially facilitate a smooth arrival. Additional copies will also be available for purchase at the regatta tent. The program features information about Fishing Bay Yacht Club and the regatta including the schedule, a site map, as well as advertisements from many of the Sponsors and Local Hosts who have made this event possible.

Olympic Gold Medalist Anna Tunnicliffe to Attend USODA Layline National Championships

Fishing Bay Yacht Club, Host Club for the 2010 USODA Layline National Championships, today announced that Anna Tunnicliffe, 2008 Olympic Gold Medal winner, 2-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year and 2009 World Sailor of the Year, will appear at the event on July 20th. Anna will present the awards for the USODA Girls National Championship which ends that day and will give a welcome address to the Open Nationals competitors. She will speak to the competitors about the level of commitment and dedication required to accomplish their sailing goals and give the kids a chance to ask questions about her sailing career.

The event, scheduled to take place from July 17 through 24, represents the pinnacle of Opti sailing in the US, and host club Fishing Bay Yacht Club is well-prepared for the expected onslaught of more than 300 talented young sailors, not to mention their parents and coaches.

Anna’s appearance is made possible by Atlantis WeatherGear, Official Apparel Provider and proud Gold Partner to the US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics. “These young sailors represent the future of our sport,” offered Atlantis Partner Bill Lynn. “We’re thrilled that Anna is willing to do this, as I don’t think there is any better role model in sailing today. Reasons To Register Now!

First, you want to avoid Late Fees and Very Late Fees! The Late Fee for Open Nationals is imposed at midnight on June 20. The Late fee for Team Racing and Girls Nationals is imposed after June 30. These fees, and the Very Late Fees, are set forth in the respective NORs.

Second, you want to get discounts on apparel. An early purchase discount for all items in the Opti Nationals Shop was offered until June 15. That discount is hereby extended until midnight June 20, 2010, consistent with the Late Fee imposition at that time.

Third, the USODA Platinum Sponsor, Layline, has offered a 10% discount off anything but sails, boats and electronics for anyone who buys anything from Layline, if they register before midnight June 20, 2010.

The US Optimist Dinghy Nationals now has a registration office thanks to USRY Modular Structures. The mobile office trailer will be at the Deltaville Museum property and will be used by the registration officials for storing registration bags and other materials.
