Deltaville Charter Boats Available for Race Observation or Fishing

The power boat’s bow that you see in the logo for the 2010 Optimist Nationals is a common sight in Deltaville, which was for many years known as the boat building capital of the Chesapeake. The boat design is called a “Deadrise”, and the design provides a safe and comfortable platform for work and relaxation in the bay chop that is common throughout the Chesapeake Bay.

Patty Lee IIWe have compiled a list of 37 charter boats with licensed captains in the Deltaville area available to take visitors on race observation trips or fishing trips, or both. Most boats have comfortable head facilities as well as covered cockpits for shade, and some will provide meals if requested in advance. Many of the captains have enthusiastically offered their services for the Nationals. A selected list appears below, and a more extended list can be found at the charter captain’s association page for Virginia’s middle peninsula.
