Chris Petracco Team Race Chief Umpire

Chris PetraccoFBYC is pleased to announce that Chris Petracco will serve as the Chief Umpire for the USODA Team Race Nationals. Chris is a US SAILING certified Senior Judge and National Umpire and is also certified as a Regional Race Officer. The past few years Chris has worked at a number of USODA events including the 2009 Nationals, 2009 New England Championships, 2008 Team Trials and 2009 Team Trials.

Chris lives in Point Pleasant, NJ with his wife Susan. A graduate of St. Mary’s College of MD, Chris was a member of the varsity sailing team and competed in both dinghy and offshore racing. While still in college, Chris served as the PRO of the national high school team race championships. Chris moved into the management side of the sport quickly. He is active in his home waters as the Chrairman of the BBYRA Appeals Committee and is the immediate past president of PHRF of the Mid-Atlantic.

Chris is on the US SAILING Judges Committee serving as the Regional Administrative Judge for Area C. It is in this capacity he finds that the educating and mentoring of new judges to be especially rewarding. When not working a regatta Chris tries to find some time to get out on the water and race weeknights or do some match racing.
